Running legend Lucy Colquhoun set to take part in the Glencoe Marathon
We are delighted to announce that Scottish running legend Lucy Colquhoun will be running in this year’s Glencoe Marathon. Lucy is well known for taking part in tough endurance races: amongst her many accolades she is probably best known for holding the female record for completing the 95 miles West Highland Way race in 17 hours 16 minutes. Lucy also previously won the female North Face CCC, a 98km race in the Alps which includes 5000 metres of ascent, beating over 2000 competitors.
With this in mind, the Glencoe Marathon should be a walk in the park for Lucy but she says long distance training hasn’t been her main focus recently. Instead she’s been taking a break for competition and simply running for enjoyment, and that’s exactly what the Glencoe Marathon will be for her – a chance to enjoy running a stunning 26.2 mile route through some of Scotland’s most beautiful scenery.
“It’s a privilege to take part in such a vibrant event and it’ll be great to get back out and remind myself why I love running – the scenery, the camaraderie and, of course, the cake at the end. And the best bit will be knowing I don’t have to do the other 69 miles!”
Lucy and the team at WildFox are looking forward to welcoming all participants to the Glencoe Marathon Gathering sponsored by first direct on the Sunday 6 October for what promises to be another fantastic event.
