Mark Beaumont teams up with WildFox!

Strong winds and driving rain on the banks of Loch Tay did not dampen spirits as adventurer Mark Beaumont and WildFox Events announced an exciting partnership for 2012.

World record breaker Beaumont will champion the Perthshire based adventure challenge company WildFox Events for 2012, not only promoting WildFox’s eight adventure challenges but take part in this year’s Martin Currie Rob Roy Challenge and the Artemis Quadrathlon.

Perthshire born Mark said: “WildFox Events put on the toughest, slickest and most extreme outdoor events in Scotland It is a small business with a big heart - I’m looking forward to helping add to the £20 million that has already been raised for charities around the world.”

Back in Perthshire after a brush with mortality in the high seas of the Atlantic, Mark’s next Scottish adventure will be a little closer to home. He has dedicated time to take part in the Martin Currie Rob Roy Challenge on 23 June. Covering a spectacular 55 mile bike and hike along the Rob Roy Way, this year’s event will raise money for Wateraid, NSPCC and Alzheimer Scotland.

WildFox Events is the UK’s original adventure challenge company committed to delivering high quality outdoor challenge events. Set up in 1999 on Loch Tay by David Fox-Pitt who has been a pioneer of the adventure challenge concept ever since setting up the Caledonian Challenge in 1996.  David Fox-Pitt, CEO of WildFox Events, said: “WildFox is delighted to have Mark Beaumont on board. We are really excited about working with such an inspirational and extraordinary character who has achieved so much in such a short time.”

Having cracked the world record for cycling around the world in 195 days, surviving all manner of problems including being run over and robbed, Mark is in a confident mood: “The Rob Roy may be a little less taxing than cycling around the world but I’m still relishing the team experience. WildFox events like the Rob Roy give thousands of people the chance to overcome their fears and achieve a big physical and mental challenge.”

Despite the tough economic times WildFox Events is pioneering three new events this year: The Ashma UK Loch to Loch Bike Ride, the Great Pentlands Push and the Glencoe Marathon. Mark added: “Wildfox Events embodies just the sort of entrepreneurial spirit that we need to support Scotland’s fragile rural economy.”
