Mark Beaumont (AKA Venom) joins super heroes in Rob Roy Challenge

World record breaking adventurer Mark Beaumont has chosen to join a team of super heroes at the Martin Currie Rob Roy Challenge this Saturday. Calling themselves ‘Team Marvel’ the group of six friends from Stirlingshire area are running and cycling the 55 mile route thought through the Trossachs as Marvel and DC comic characters such
as Captain America, Batman, Spider-Man and The Fantastic 4’s Sue Richards.
Mark, who is the ambassador for event organisers WildFox Events, is expecting to fit right in as the villainous Venom. “I’m really excited about putting aside my dastardly side to join the super heroes in a death defying dash to the finish line in Kenmore this Saturday,” Mark commented.
The Martin Currie Rob Roy Challenge has become one of Scotland’s most successful fundraising events with over £2.1 million raised for good causes by 2,700 participants since 2006. This year Mark is taking part in the event to help raise money for WaterAid, the NSPCC and Alzheimer Scotland.
Team Marvel’s is headed up by life long comics fan Ross Lawrie. Ross loves Spider-Man so much that he once travelled to New York, to meet Spider-Man creator Stan Lee, in person and in costume! “I can’t believe I’m going to get the chance to run and cycle alongside my real life sporting hero Mark Beaumont,” commented Ross. “Team Marvel will be delighted to have him along on our mission, to keep everyone in high spirits during the Rob Roy Challenge.”
Once again this year Wood Mackenzie is financially supporting Team Marvel in their efforts to raise money for the Rob Roy Challenge. To add your support please visit Team Marvel’s fundraising page.
